We’re recruiting for a Health & Safety Coordinator to join a reputable employer in Northamptonshire. This is a permanent role supporting H&S across a busy, technical environment. You’ll play a key part in managing risk, ensuring legal compliance, driving best practice, and promoting a positive safety culture across the site.

The Role:

Job Title: Health & Safety Coordinator
Location: Northamptonshire
Salary: £30,000–£35,000 per annum + Benefits
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Monday – Thursday: 08:30–17:00 & Friday: 08:30–15:00

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Implement and monitor health & safety policies and procedures
  • Lead site inspections, audits, and ensure closeout of improvement actions
  • Chair H&S meetings and report on progress
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses and support corrective actions
  • Maintain all documentation related to COSHH, DSE, PPE, fire, and HAVS
  • Deliver toolbox talks, manage safety noticeboards, and promote good communication
  • Coordinate new starter onboarding and ongoing safety training
  • Act as Laser Safety Officer / Radiation Protection Supervisor where required
  • Liaise with external authorities (HSE, insurers, local government)
  • Drive awareness and compliance across the site

What We’re Looking For:

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of UK H&S legislation (RIDDOR, COSHH, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and documentation control

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • IOSH membership (TechIOSH or above)
  • Manufacturing, engineering, or warehouse background
  • First Aid or Fire Warden qualification
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001 or 14001

Ideal Attributes:

  • High attention to detail and risk awareness
  • Able to work proactively and influence at all levels
  • Calm, solution-focused approach to incidents
  • Strong documentation and record-keeping ability
