Position: Category Specialist

Location: Leicester, LE5 based | Hybrid working available after successful 6-month probation

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5 pm

Pay: £33,000–£40,000 per year

Contract: Permanent

We’re representing a forward thinking organisation seeking a talented Category Specialist to join their collaborative Procurement Team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives on analysis, strategy and teamwork, driving value and growth across the business.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Ensure accurate product setup within the ERP system, maintain data integrity and conduct regular audits to align with compliance standards and business needs
  • Analyse performance, identify savings opportunities and portfolio gaps, benchmark pricing and collaborate with Procurement and Sales to drive margin improvements
  • Manage and review list pricing for assigned categories, track market trends and supplier updates and work with Sales to optimise product mix
  • Engage with suppliers on updates, pricing reviews and product changes; support onboarding processes, maintain accurate data and contribute to sourcing and evaluation activities
  • Partner with Sales and Product Coordination teams to address catalogue gaps, share category insights and work with Marketing, Customer Service and Quality to ensure alignment

What We’re Looking for:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems (e.g. Microsoft Dynamics)
  • Experience in cataloguing, data cleansing and validation
  • Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail
  • Effective stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Experience mentoring or managing team members
  • CIPS Certification or willingness to work towards it (support available)
  • Experience with Sage 200
  • Previous exposure to category management and/or product data management
  • Procurement, supply chain or inventory experience
