Title: Communications & Engagement Manager
Location: Nottinghamshire, Hybrid working available
Salary: £50,270
Contract: Fixed-Term Contract – 8 months (likely to become permanent)
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Communications & Engagement Manager to lead a local authority’s communications function. You will be responsible for aligning all communications and engagement activity to support delivery of organisational priorities, maintaining public and employee trust and enhancing reputation. This role includes media relations, internal communications, community engagement, marketing campaigns and social media management.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and motivate a team delivering integrated communications and engagement strategies.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for internal/external communications, consultation, engagement and marketing campaigns.
- Manage high-profile or sensitive communications, events and media relations.
- Ensure brand consistency and high-quality communications across all materials and channels.
- Build and maintain relationships with statutory, public sector and voluntary/community partners.
- Oversee budget, performance and resource management for the team.
What we’re looking for:
- Degree-level qualification in Marketing, Communications or equivalent.
- Extensive experience in communications and engagement, ideally within a local authority or public sector context.
- Strong leadership and strategic planning skills.
- Confident managing complex projects, high-profile communications and team development.
- Ability to work flexibly, including occasional evenings/weekends.
Additional Information:
- Politically Restricted under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.
- Subject to DBS check and regular review.
- Agile worker: hybrid home/office working available, with flexibility as required.
