Junior CNC Machinist | Banbury, Oxfordshire
£27,000 per annum starting salary + 21% shift premium (afternoons) + structured progression
Monday to Friday | Weekly rotating shifts:
- 6.30am – 2.30pm
- 1.30pm – 10.00pm
Are you someone who actually wants to learn machining properly?
Not just load parts and press start. Not just chase numbers.
We’re looking for someone who wants to understand why things are made the way they are and is prepared to learn it from the ground up.
The Role
This is not a typical CNC role.
You’ll join a specialist materials testing facility where the parts you produce are used to test materials to destruction.
The designs themselves are simple. But the tolerances? Aerospace level.
Because if the part isn’t perfect, the test data is wrong. And that data is what determines whether materials are safe to be used in critical environments.
You’ll start at Level 1 and build your skills across a full range of machining processes.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Operating band saws to prepare raw material
- Manual milling and turning
- Cylindrical grinding and polishing to extremely tight tolerances
- Learning CNC machining processes as you develop
- Working to precise specifications where accuracy is critical
- Following structured processes where mistakes aren’t acceptable
- Continuously developing your machining capability through training
What We’re Looking For
- Reliable and consistent – turns up, does the job properly
- Coachable – willing to learn from experienced machinists
- Hands on mindset – enjoys working with tools and machinery
- Detail focused – understands that microns matter here
- Curious – wants to understand how materials behave and why
- Calm under pressure – doesn’t panic when precision is required
- Looking for a long term career, not just a job
The Environment
- Structured training from Level 1 through to Level 3
- Supportive and professional team culture
- High standards, but people are given the time to learn properly
- A workplace where attitude and consistency are valued over ego
Package & Benefits
- £27,000 starting salary + a 21% shift premium on afternoon shifts
- Structured pay progression
- 23 days holiday + bank holidays (increasing with service)
- Pension and death in service cover
- Cycle to work scheme
- Company events and team initiatives
