- Monday to Thursday, 40 hours per week starting at 4AM or 5AM
- Up to £20 per hour (DOE) + Weekly Production Bonus (typically £100 – £200 per week) + Overtime at time and one half over 40 hours per week
Join a UK Industry Leader as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
This is more than just a maintenance role – it’s a chance to join a business that dominates its sector, producing a specialist product used across major UK infrastructure projects. With over 50% national market share and part of a wider group with 19 UK sites and 2,300+ employees, you’ll be joining a company investing in its future – and yours.
A recent £1.8 million upgrade has brought in automation, AI and smarter systems. You’ll be working in a modernised, fully indoor environment, with machines built for heavy-duty work and supported by a stable, proactive engineering team that takes pride in performance, safety and results.
Your Role
You’ll take the lead on maintaining three large, bespoke machines, supported by a fellow engineer and experienced production crew. You’ll have the trust and autonomy to make decisions on the ground, spotting issues and solving them before they escalate.
Key responsibilities:
- Mechanical fault-finding and repairs
- Welding (essential skill)
- Maintenance on hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, and heavy plants
- Preventative & reactive maintenance – reducing downtime, not just fixing breakdowns
- Root cause analysis using 5Y/CI tools
- Promoting safety first and a continuous improvement culture
What We’re Looking For:
- Mechanical maintenance experience in heavy industry (concrete, quarrying, brick, steel, aggregates etc.)
- Strong welding skills (MIG/TIG/arc – any solid background)
- Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors
- Confidence to work independently and take initiative
- A safety-conscious, hands-on attitude
Employment Benefits:
- Negotiable hourly rate up to £20 per hour depending on experience
- Weekly production bonus (this typically ranges between £100 – £200 per week depending on plant performance)
- Overtime paid at time and one half over 40 hours per week and Saturdays. Overtime paid at double time on Sundays and Bank Holidays
- Monday to Thursday standard working week
- Loyalty bonus after 3 years
- £500 ‘refer a friend’ scheme
- Ongoing training – including cherry picker, dumper, IPAF, confined spaces etc.
- All PPE and workwear provided
- Free onsite parking
