Role: Production Shift Manager (Manufacturing)
Location: Marston Green, Birmingham B37
Hours: Rotating Shifts – 6-2 / 2-10 / 10-6 – Mon – Fri
Salary: £46,900pa (including shift allowance)
Contract: Permanent

We are recruiting on behalf of a packaging manufacturing business seeking an experienced Shift Manager to lead and support production teams. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving safety, quality, productivity and team performance across the shifts, while ensuring output targets are achieved and customer orders are delivered on time and in full.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Lead, motivate and develop a team of shop floor operatives and agency staff
  • Set clear objectives aligned to site priorities and production targets
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as root cause analysis, 5 Why and Kaizen
  • Deliver effective shift communication and handovers
  • Promote a strong behavioural safety culture, leading by example at all times
  • Ensure adherence to all safe systems of work, risk assessments and site procedures
  • Take full responsibility for Health, Safety and Environmental compliance within production areas
  • Ensure daily quality checks are completed, and non-conformances are investigated and resolved

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in a manufacturing production supervisory/management role ideally packaging but not essential
  • Experience in fast paced or high volume manufacturing environments
  • Strong people management and leadership skills
  • Understanding of Health & Safety and Quality standards within manufacturing
  • Experience driving KPIs, productivity and continuous improvement
  • Good IT, literacy and numeracy skills
  • Management or leadership qualifications advantageous
