Ready to build a market rather than simply manage an inbox?

Role: Internal Sales Executive

Location: Basingstoke

Hours: Mon – Thurs, 9am – 5pm | Fri, 9am – 4pm
Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 depending on experience
Bonus: 15% annual bonus
Contract: Permanent

We’re recruiting an ambitious Internal Sales Executive to join a growing specialist manufacturer supplying high purity chemicals to customers across Europe and potentially further afield.

This is a genuine business development role for someone who enjoys researching new markets, getting on the phone and turning cold prospects into long term commercial relationships.

You’ll take ownership of your pipeline, identify new opportunities and speak with customers across a range of advanced industries.

What’s on Offer?

  • Annual salary reviews
  • 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays
  • Healthcare benefits
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay
  • Death in service benefit
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Mental health support
  • LinkedIn Learning access
  • Support with relevant study and qualifications
  • Long service rewards
  • Free on site parking
  • Electric vehicle charging points
  • The opportunity to build an international sales territory
  • Genuine scope to influence sales processes and future commercial growth

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Researching potential customers, markets and applications before making contact
  • Generating new business through proactive outbound calling, email and online outreach
  • Speaking with decision makers across European and international markets
  • Qualifying leads and understanding customers’ technical and commercial requirements
  • Developing smaller and emerging accounts with strong growth potential
  • Identifying cross selling and upselling opportunities within existing accounts
  • Managing inbound enquiries, sample requests, quotations and commercial discussions
  • Negotiating pricing and supporting contract agreements
  • Communicating product benefits and value propositions clearly
  • Supporting new product launches and wider sales campaigns
  • Working closely with external sales, technical, product management and operational teams
  • Maintaining an accurate and up to date opportunity pipeline
  • Tracking activity, conversion rates, revenue, margin and wider sales performance
  • Sharing customer feedback, competitor information and market intelligence
  • Taking ownership of quieter periods by researching prospects and creating new opportunities
  • Helping improve sales processes, reporting and commercial workflows

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience in inside sales, business development or a commercially focused role
  • Confidence making cold calls and approaching new prospective customers
  • A clear track record of generating leads and developing new business
  • The ability to discuss previous calling activity, including dial volumes and connection rates
  • Good research skills and a considered approach to prospecting
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to identify value rather than compete solely on price
  • Confidence managing quotations, pricing discussions and customer negotiations
  • Excellent telephone, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Great CRM discipline and accurate pipeline management
  • The ability to manage your workload without constant supervision
  • A proactive approach when the pipeline is quiet or priorities are not assigned
  • Curiosity about technical products and how customers use them
  • Confidence learning about specialist chemicals, products and applications
  • Good analytical skills with the ability to monitor performance and identify trends
  • Experience using CRM systems, Microsoft Office and sales reporting tools
  • Experience within chemicals, manufacturing, engineering or another technical industry would be beneficial, but it is not essential.

What Success Looks Like:

You’ll be someone who doesn’t wait for leads to land neatly in their inbox like well trained little sales opportunities.

You’ll research the right businesses, understand why they may need the product and approach them with relevant questions. You’ll manage your activity consistently, keep your pipeline accurate and continue creating opportunities even when nobody is standing over you assigning tasks.
