Job Title: Trainee CNC Machinist – No Experience Required

Location: Banbury, Oxfordshire

Starting salary: £27,000 per annum + 21% shift premium for afternoon shifts + structured training and salary progression

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday on a weekly rotating shift pattern:

  • 6.30am – 2.30pm
  • 1.30pm – 10.00pm

The Role:

Build a long-term career in precision machining with a specialist materials testing business in Banbury.

You don’t need previous CNC experience. We’re looking for someone practical, reliable and good with detail who wants to learn a skilled technical job properly.

You’ll start at Level 1 with structured training and the opportunity to progress through to Level 3 as your skills develop.

What you’ll learn

The components made here are used for destructive materials testing. They’re often relatively simple in design but need to be manufactured to extremely tight tolerances. Accuracy really matters!

You’ll be trained by experienced machinists and gradually learn:

  • Preparing materials using band saws
  • Manual milling and turning
  • Cylindrical grinding and polishing
  • Working accurately to tight tolerances
  • Checking the quality of your own work
  • CNC machining as your skills progress

You won’t be expected to know all of this from day one. You’ll learn each process properly before moving onto more advanced work.

  • Reliable with good attendance and timekeeping
  • Practical and comfortable working with machinery
  • Good attention to detail
  • Patient enough to work accurately
  • Willing to listen, learn and take feedback
  • An interest in engineering or manufacturing
  • Looking for a long-term technical career
