We’re recruiting for an experienced Finance Assistant to join a busy, family owned precision manufacturing company based in Loughborough.

With nearly 40 years of industry experience, our client has built an excellent reputation for quality, innovation and technical expertise. Operating from a manufacturing facility, they provide complete engineering and manufacturing solutions to customers across a variety of industries.

They’re now looking for a capable, organised and confident Finance Assistant to support their busy finance function.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied accounts role, takes pride in getting the details right and wants to contribute to the smooth running of a successful manufacturing business.

The Opportunity

You’ll be joining a friendly, hardworking team where you’ll play an important part in keeping the company’s day today financial operations running smoothly.

Working closely with the Financial Controller and wider business, you’ll take responsibility for a mixture of sales ledger, purchase ledger, credit control and general accounting duties.

This isn’t a role where you’ll be doing the same task all day. You’ll have the opportunity to use your existing finance experience, build relationships with customers and suppliers, and get involved in different aspects of the accounts function.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Sales Ledger: Preparing and issuing customer invoices, allocating payments and ensuring financial records are accurate and up to date.
• Purchase Ledger: Processing supplier invoices, matching purchase orders, resolving discrepancies and reconciling supplier statements.
• Credit Control: Monitoring outstanding balances, following up on overdue payments and maintaining positive relationships with customers.
• Accounts Administration: Maintaining customer and supplier records, processing expenses and managing financial documentation.
• Payment Processing: Supporting supplier payment runs, preparing remittance advice and reconciling transactions.
• Month End Support: Assisting with reconciliations, reporting and other month-end accounting activities.
• Customer & Supplier Communication: Handling account queries professionally via telephone and email.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who can bring a strong understanding of everyday accounting processes and the confidence to get stuck in from day one.

You’ll ideally have:

• Previous experience in a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant, Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger or similar finance role.
• A good understanding of bookkeeping principles, including VAT and reconciliations.
• Experience using accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, Xero or similar.
• Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
• Confidence communicating with customers and suppliers, including chasing outstanding payments.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
• The ability to manage your own workload, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.

Even better if you have:

• Experience working within manufacturing, engineering or a similar industry.
• Previous experience using Sage 50 or an ERP system.
• A background in credit control.
• AAT qualifications or are currently studying towards them.
