Looking for a role where you’ll have real ownership of supplier relationships, purchasing decisions and stock management?

We’re recruiting a Buyer to join a manufacturing and distribution business in Minworth. This is a permanent position offering long-term career stability, a varied workload and the opportunity to play a key role in ensuring materials are available to support customer demand across the business.

You’ll be working closely with suppliers, production, sales and operations teams to ensure stock is purchased efficiently, deliveries are managed effectively and supplier performance remains at a high standard.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with purchasing, procurement or supply chain experience who enjoys building supplier relationships, analysing data and ensuring the business has the right materials in the right place at the right time.

Job Role: Buyer

Location: Minworth, Sutton Coldfield (B76)

Salary: £28,500 per annum

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm

Contract Type: Permanent employment from day 1

What you’ll be doing:

  • Placing material purchase orders in line with MRP requirements
  • Reviewing supplier forecasts and future purchasing plans
  • Managing purchase order acknowledgements and delivery confirmations
  • Monitoring supplier performance and maintaining strong working relationships
  • Producing supplier KPI reports and purchasing performance data
  • Maintaining accurate purchasing and supplier information within the ERP system
  • Reviewing material requirements and ensuring stock availability across the business
  • Investigating alternative stock options to maximise inventory utilisation
  • Producing and reviewing supplier order status reports
  • Supporting the wider business with purchasing, material planning and supply chain activities
  • Liaising with suppliers and customers to resolve supply issues when required
  • Travelling to suppliers and customers when necessary

What you’ll need:

  • Previous experience within purchasing, procurement or supply chain
  • Strong negotiation and commercial awareness skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience producing reports and analysing business data
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong numerical and analytical ability
  • Ability to work accurately within a fast-paced environment
  • Confident communication and supplier relationship management skills
  • Good understanding of commercial business operations
