We’re recruiting an experienced MIG Welder for an fantastic sheet metal manufacturer in Leicestershire. You’ll be working predominantly with mild steel, producing fabricated sheet metal components where consistency, accuracy and a tidy weld matter.

Job Title: MIG Welder
Money: £16.00 per hour
Hours / Shifts: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm
Other benefits: Fixed Monday to Friday day shift, ongoing temporary work with the possibility of becoming permanent, although this cannot be guaranteed.

What’s the job?

This is a hands on MIG Welding position within a busy sheet metal manufacturing environment.

You’ll predominantly be welding mild steel between approximately 1mm and 3mm thick, so they need somebody comfortable working with thinner material and producing consistent welds.

Day to day, you’ll be:

• MIG welding mild steel sheet metal components.
• Working predominantly with material between 1mm and 3mm thick.
• Producing clean and consistent welds.
• Checking the quality of your own work.
• Working accurately and maintaining a sensible production pace.
• Keeping your welding area clean, safe and organised.
• Working as part of the wider manufacturing and fabrication team.

What experience do you need?

You’ll need previous MIG Welding experience, ideally within a sheet metal or fabrication environment.

Most importantly, you should be confident welding thinner gauge mild steel.

You’ll need to be comfortable:

• MIG welding mild steel.
• Working with sheet material around 1mm–3mm thick.
• Producing consistent welds without excessive distortion or burn-through.
• Checking the quality of your own work.
• Working independently once you understand the job.
• Maintaining good standards throughout the shift.

You will also need to provide your own welding mask.

If most of your experience has been heavy structural steel or thick plate, this may not be the right type of welding for you.

They need someone comfortable with sheet metal fabrication, where control and consistency matter.

What type of contract is it?

This position is being recruited initially on an ongoing temporary basis.

There is the possibility that the opportunity could become permanent in the future, but this is not guaranteed, so we’d rather be completely upfront about that from the start.
