Position: Factory Labourer / Production Serviceman
Location: Loughborough
Pay: £15.13 per hour
Direct employee equivalent: £29,120 per annum
Hours: Rotating 34 hour and 40 hour weeks, averaging 37 hours
Contract: Long term temporary / temp to perm opportunity

There is no automatic permanent transfer at 12 weeks, but long term work is available and successful temporary workers may have the opportunity to move into a permanent role. A valid Counterbalance FLT licence and previous overhead crane experience are essential.

What will you be doing?

  • Loading and unloading transformer components, materials and equipment.
  • Moving large components and materials safely between production areas.
  • Supporting the positioning and movement of transformer tanks and assemblies.
  • Operating Counterbalance forklifts where trained and authorised.
  • Working safely around overhead crane and lifting operations.
  • Delivering parts, materials and consumables to production teams.
  • Supporting general labouring, housekeeping and waste management activity.
  • Helping keep walkways, production areas and working zones clean and safe.
  • Following further training, supporting air mover and vacuum oven processes used during transformer production.

What are we looking for?

You must have:

  • A valid B1 Counterbalance FLT licence as a minimum.
  • Previous overhead crane operating experience.
  • Experience within manufacturing, engineering, warehousing, logistics or another industrial environment.
  • The physical capability to complete regular lifting, carrying, bending and material handling work.
  • Good reliability, punctuality and a safety conscious attitude.

A B2 FLT licence would be a bonus.

A current overhead crane / slinging and lifting certificate would be ideal, but the company can consider somebody with genuine previous overhead crane experience even where their certificate is not current. MEWP/IPAF 3A and 3B experience would also be advantageous.

Working hours

Week One – Monday to Thursday, 7am – 4pmFriday off unless overtime is required (34 paid hours)

Week Two – Monday to Thursday, 7am – 4pm | Friday, 7am – 1pm (40 paid hours)

The average working week is 37 hours.

Overtime may be available and is currently paid at enhanced rates:

  • Friday overtime: 1.3x
  • Saturday: 1.5x
  • Sunday: 2x
