CNC Press Brake (Setter / Operator) | Know Your Angles? We Should Talk.

Location: Loughborough, LE12
Salary: £14 – £15 per hour + £1 per hour night shift allowance (£15 – £16 per hour total)
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 4pm – 2am
Contract: Permanent
Shift: Nights

If “that’s close enough” makes you slightly uncomfortable, we should probably talk.

You know your way around a CNC Press Brake. You can read an engineering drawing, understand what’s needed, create a programme, set the machine and produce a component that’s actually right.

And when something’s a couple of degrees out?

You don’t just shrug your shoulders and hope the next department doesn’t notice.

You sort it.

Sound familiar? Keep reading.

We’re working with a seriously impressive UK manufacturer that designs, develops and manufactures bespoke retail displays, fixtures and fittings for some of the biggest names on the high street, as well as luxury retail brands.

Think flagship stores, eye catching displays, premium retail environments and bespoke projects that people walk past every day without realising how much engineering goes into making them.

And that’s where you come in.

With around 200 employees across creative design, technical engineering, fabrication, acrylics, joinery and prototyping, this is a business where an idea on a drawing becomes something you’ll eventually see out in the real world.

They’re now looking for an experienced CNC Press Brake Setter / Operator to join their night shift fabrication team.

What will you be doing?

This isn’t a position for someone who simply loads a sheet, presses a button and waits for the next job.

We’re looking for someone who genuinely understands CNC Press Brake setting and can take responsibility for producing accurate, high-quality components.

You’ll be:

  • Reading and interpreting technical engineering drawings.
  • Creating CNC Press Brake programmes to suit different components and specifications.
  • Setting and operating CNC Press Brake machinery independently.
  • Selecting and setting up appropriate tooling for the job.
  • Producing accurate bends and ensuring components meet the required dimensions and tolerances.
  • Inspecting your own work and making adjustments where necessary.
  • Working with sheet metal components used in bespoke retail displays, fixtures and fittings.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment.

With the variety of products this business manufactures, attention to detail isn’t just a nice bonus. It’s essential.

What are we looking for?

Someone who knows what they’re doing, takes pride in their work and doesn’t need someone standing over their shoulder every five minutes.

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • Previous experience setting and operating CNC Press Brake machinery.
  • The ability to create and adjust programmes independently.
  • Confidence reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • A good understanding of sheet metal fabrication and bending processes.
  • Experience checking dimensions, angles and tolerances using appropriate measuring equipment.
  • A strong eye for detail and a genuine commitment to quality.
  • The confidence to work independently as part of a night shift team.

Experience with different makes and models of Press Brake machinery is welcome.

We’re far more interested in whether you can confidently set up a job and get it right than how impressive your CV looks.

What’s in it for you?

There’s plenty to like about this one.

  • £15 – £16 per hour including the £1 night shift allowance.
  • Four day working week, Monday to Thursday.
  • Permanent employment directly with the manufacturer.
  • 16 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Overtime opportunities at enhanced rates.
  • Company bonus scheme after completing one year’s employment, subject to scheme terms.
  • Company pension scheme.
  • Free on site parking.
  • Two company presentations each year, followed by paid staff outings, including summer and Christmas events.
  • The opportunity to manufacture components for some of the biggest high street and luxury retail brands.

And perhaps the biggest attraction?

You’re not just bending bits of metal all night. You’re helping turn creative designs into finished products that end up in some seriously impressive retail environments.

What are the working hours?

Monday to Thursday, 4pm – 2am.

A regular three day weekend, with Friday, Saturday and Sunday off unless you’re working additional overtime.

Overtime opportunities may be available on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings, depending on production requirements.
