We’re recruiting an experienced CNC Press Brake Setter / Operator for an great sheet metal manufacturer in Leicestershire. This is a proper setting role for somebody who knows their way around Amada machinery and can take responsibility for getting jobs set, folded and produced accurately.

Job Title: CNC Press Brake Setter / Operator
Money: Starting from £15.50 per hour
Hours / Shifts: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm
Other benefits: Permanent day shift, no rotating shifts, weekend overtime paid at 1.5x and long term work within a sheet metal manufacturing environment.

What’s the job?

This is a genuine Setter / Operator position.

You won’t be waiting for somebody else to set the machine before you can start producing parts.

You’ll be expected to read the drawing, understand what needs forming, select and load the correct tooling and set the Amada Press Brake to produce the required folds and bends.

Day to day, you’ll be:

  • Setting and operating Amada CNC Press Brake machinery.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Selecting, adjusting and loading the correct tooling.
  • Producing accurate folds and bends to drawing.
  • Checking your work and taking responsibility for quality.
  • Making sure machinery remains safe, clean and in good working order.
  • Keeping your work area clean and organised.
  • Following site Health & Safety procedures.
  • Supporting other production areas where required and within your skills and experience.

The important bit is that you’re comfortable setting the machine yourself.

If your experience is mainly loading parts into a machine that somebody else has already set, this probably isn’t the right one.

What experience do you need?

You’ll need previous experience setting and operating Amada Press Brakes within a sheet metal or fabrication environment.

You should be confident:

  • Setting Amada CNC Press Brake machinery.
  • Operating the machine once set.
  • Reading and understanding engineering drawings.
  • Selecting and loading Press Brake tooling.
  • Producing accurate folds and bends.
  • Checking the quality of your own work.
  • Working independently when required.
  • Working as part of a wider manufacturing team.

You’ll also need good attention to detail and a practical approach to getting jobs completed properly.

They need somebody who can be given a drawing and a job and be trusted to get on with it.
