We’re recruiting an experienced CNC Laser Setter / Operator for a fantastic precision sheet metal manufacturer in Rugby. You’ll be working with modern laser cutting machinery, producing components from engineering drawings and taking responsibility for getting each job set correctly before full production begins.

Job Title: CNC Laser Setter Operator
Money: Up to £17.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Overtime Rate: Paid at X1.33 over 39 hours and weekend work
Hours / Shifts: Monday to Thursday 8:00am – 4:30pm | Friday 8:00am – 3:30pm
Contract Type: Temp to Perm or Straight Permanent Employment (depending on your availability). If the position starts on a temporary contract, you will be paid weekly by Your Recruiters Limited.

The Role:

You’ll work across a varied range of sheet metal projects, including defence, automotive, subcontract engineering, point of sale, retail displays and bespoke fabrication.

With manufacturing and finishing handled in-house, you’ll be part of a busy engineering environment where the jobs, components and requirements regularly change.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Setting and operating Amada CNC Laser machinery
  • Working from engineering drawings
  • Cutting and producing sheet metal components
  • Checking dimensions and quality
  • Working across varied jobs and materials
  • Making sure the correct programme, material and settings are being used
  • Using measuring equipment correctly
  • Working safely in a busy manufacturing environment
  • Supporting the wider workshop where needed

What we need from you

  • Previous experience setting and operating CNC laser machinery
  • Amada experience would be a strong advantage
  • Confident reading and working from engineering drawings
  • Experience working within sheet metal manufacturing
  • Able to measure and check your own work accurately
  • Reliable with good attendance and timekeeping
  • Comfortable working independently in a busy, hands-on workshop

Experience with laser punching, nesting or other sheet metal processes would be useful, but isn’t essential.

  • 30-minute lunch break (unpaid) and 2 X 10-minute tea breaks (paid) on your contracted hours
