We are recruiting Factory Labourers to join a large engineering manufacturer in Loughborough. This is proper hands on factory work supporting the assembly and movement of large engineered products, with the opportunity to secure a permanent position after 12 weeks.

Position: Factory Labourer
Location: Loughborough
Pay: £15.50 per hour
Hours: Rotating 34 hour and 40 hour weeks
Contract: Temp to perm, with a permanent transfer after 12 weeks

You do not need to be a qualified engineer, but you must be reliable, comfortable working in an industrial environment and able to carry out the physical duties of the role safely.

The work involves regular lifting, bending, carrying and moving materials, so this will not suit somebody looking for a light warehouse or packing position.

What will you be doing?

• Fetching and carrying parts, materials and equipment.
• Moving components around the factory.
• Supporting assembly and production teams.
• Completing physically demanding manual handling work.
• Helping to maintain an organised and safe working area.
• Working across preparation, main assembly, finishing and dispatch areas.
• Using a counterbalance forklift where trained and required.

What are we looking for?

The most important things are your attitude, reliability and understanding of the physical nature of the position.

Experience within manufacturing, engineering, production, construction, warehousing or industrial labouring would be useful.

You should be:

• Comfortable carrying out regular lifting, manual handling and physical work.
• Reliable and able to maintain good attendance.
• Used to working safely within an industrial environment.
• Willing to support different areas of the factory.
• Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team.

A valid Counterbalance FLT licence would be a strong advantage.

Manual Handling, Working at Height and MEWP/IPAF training are strongly preferred. Candidates with the right industrial experience and attitude may still be considered where some training is required.

Working hours

The position follows a rotating two week pattern:

Week One

Monday to Thursday, 7:00am–4:00pm
Friday off, unless overtime is required
34 paid hours

Week Two

Monday to Thursday, 7:00am–4:00pm
Friday, 7:00am–1:00pm
40 paid hours

The average working week is 37 hours.

Overtime may be available and is paid at enhanced rates:

• Friday overtime: 1.3x
• Saturday: 1.5x
• Sunday: 2x
